Stores do not sell orthodontic elastic bands. If you lose a flexible bag, just call your dentist's office and let them know you need a new supply. This happens all the time and they may not be reimbursed. All you have to do is look for it. Sometimes the office even sends you during the holidays.
You can't even borrow a rubber band from your friends. You need to have the right kind of flexibility and your friend can't be the same kind. The right flexibility is right for your condition and level of development. Although the elastics look basically the same in people's mouths, they vary in length and thickness. (These are usually coded in color depending on the size, so you have yellow on one side and green on the other, for example.) Will choose the right size and how long and how much you want to make the elastic. The power needs to be transferred to the teeth. You will find a note in your Trent file about what kind of flexibility you will need and how to use it.
